The US Federal government spends $65 billion annually on Digital Infrastructure. Other national, regional, and local governments dedicate significant proportions of their budgets to it as well. There are specific and key differences in how government institutions view technology, in that they must serve all of their citizens, they must ensure new services are fully reliable and equitable, and they must jump through legislative and bureaucratic hopes to plan and deploy initiatives.
