Solutions for the new science of digitally engineered materials
Large technological advancements are almost always dependent on the creation (or discovery) of novel materials. Revolutionary developments in material science enable the next generation of technological advancement. In most engineering projects, however, materials are “a given” defined at the start of the design process and are rarely changed throughout it. The recent development of “digital materials” that can be designed, analyzed, and optimized via simulation changes this paradigm forever and unlocks endless possibilities for technological development across all industries.
Digital materials: Creating the engineered materials of the future
Although engineers and material scientists inspire each other to new levels of innovation via a sort of “virtuous race,” engineering and materials science have largely been separate disciplines. Cooperation has always been limited by the fact that, although the bulk of engineering design has moved towards CAE simulation, developing novel materials is usually done in the lab rather than on a computer. This makes materials development time-consuming, difficult, and expensive.
The development of digital solutions for materials discovery and innovation allows engineers to consider material properties as design variables rather than constraints; this enables the prediction of material properties that affect product performance, lifecycle costs, and shortens time to market. Ultimately, this leads to the development of smart, sustainable materials in shorter timeframes.
What you will learn in this webinar:
In this webinar, a panel of experts from Siemens will present the latest developments and solutions for materials discovery and innovation. They will address common questions and highlight the benefits of a digital thread approach across the entire value chain of materials development, from discovery to performance assessment to production processes, as well as post-production processing. Real-world examples of each phase will be presented, with an emphasis on the tools and technologies that enable you to weave a digital thread through the entire solution — including the backbone/platform for digital materials engineering.
