From early in the COVID-19 pandemic, UV-C light technologies have been deployed as part of surgical mask disinfection systems, allowing masks to be used multiple times as hospital staffs dealt with PPE shortages. The UV-C process is also used in a variety of applications such as food, air and water purification, and it has demonstrated its efficiency against pathogens like those responsible for cholera, polio, typhoid, hepatitis and other bacterial diseases. In these cases, UV-C inactivates the microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions.
Furthermore, a UV-C system is much easier to maintain and safer to use than chemical disinfectants because you do not need to transport, store and manipulate chemical products, thus providing environmental security.
If you would like to know more about UV-C systems for surface, air or water disinfection, join us in this webinar and learn how to optimize your lighting system, materials and configurations. Understand how to use Ansys CFD capabilities for fluid flow simulation and Ansys optical simulation capabilities to meet UV dosage requirements and ensure safe operation of the system.
