DESCRIPTION: Optical models of the human eye are widely used in vision science as computational tools for investigating retinal image formation under different conditions. For example, it predicts how refraction and aberrations are affected by ocular biometry and explores the limitations imposed on vision by the optical system of the eye. \n \nApplications include ophthalmic instrument design to examine the eye and correction design for patients with vision loss. Presbyopia, the gradual loss of the aging eyes' ability to accommodate near-object distances, affects a substantial part of the population. \n \nMultifocal contact lenses have gained increasing interest in recent years as the preferred method of correction due to the demanding lifestyle of the digital era, their cosmetic advantages over spectacles, and the increased practitioner confidence to fit them.\n \nIn this webinar, we will demonstrate how to model the human eye and design multifocal contact lenses for presbyopia correction using the eye model:\n \n1. We will implement the Chromatic Aspherical Gullstrand Exact model to simulate the average unaccommodated human eye.\n2. To replace the natural focusing mechanism to near objects for presbyopic patients, we will design a multifocal contact lens addition to the schematic eye in the sequential mode of Zemax OpticStudio using its powerful optimization engine.\n3. We will visualize and evaluate the system performance in a realistic scene in Speos. \n
